Chief Executive Officer

As President and CEO, William C. Lucia is responsible for setting overall strategic direction for the Company and its operating subsidiaries. He came to HMS from the insurance industry, where he took on a series of successively more senior operational and information technology roles, culminating in senior executive roles at North American Company for Life and Health Insurance and Celtic Insurance.

Mr. Lucia moved to HMS in 1996 to become General Manager of our electronic data interchange business. In 2001 he was named President of HMS, Inc., which had just over $20 million in revenues, but, even then, represented the single kernel with more potential for growth than anything else HMS did at the time. Mr. Lucia and the executive team he developed and attracted ushered in a period of very rapid growth for HMS.

In 2005 Mr. Lucia was named President and COO of HMS Holdings Corp. Since then, his strategic insight, product knowledge, and inspirational leadership have been key to HMS’s rapid and profitable growth.   His accomplishments have taken place within the complex and dynamic business and social arena of U.S. healthcare. Under his leadership, HMS was ranked #10 on Fortune’s list of the 100 fastest growing companies in the U.S. in 2010.

In addition to leading the company’s unprecedented growth, what sets Mr. Lucia apart as an exceptional entrepreneur is his vision to improve the nation’s healthcare system and genuine caring for the greater good. In June 2011 Mr. Lucia was honored with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Health Sciences category (Southwest Area North region).
